When we got saved by God’s grace through faith in Christ (Eph 2:8), we became the Lord’s property (1 Cor 6:20). We are now “followers of God” (Eph 5:1), and we should be serving Him “with gladness” (Ps 100:2); for we “serve the Lord Christ” (v. 24)! Although other people may be the direct recipients of our service, we are actually serving the Lord when we do things for His glory (1 Cor 10:31). Whether we are doing it for the brethren (1 Cor 8:12), or strangers, the poorest, even the most despised and afflicted, we are doing it for God! Because our Lord Jesus considers our service for others as our service to Him (Mt 25:40).
When Paul met Jesus on his way to Damascus, he was told “I am Jesus whom thou persecutes” (Acts 9:5). It was clearly stated that whatever Paul was doing “against the disciples of the Lord” (Acts 9:1), it was being done against Jesus! There is no work that is either too big or too small. Therefore, “whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” All of our work will not go unnoticed (Lk 8:17), by the all-seeing eyes of God. Because He beholds “the evil and the good” (Prov 15:3). When Jesus saw a certain poor widow casting in her two mites, He said that she had “cast in more than they all” (Lk 21:3). He also told His disciples not to forbid the little children to come to Him (Lk 18:16).
Then God told us to “go to the ant” (Prov 6:6), and learn her ways. The small and seemingly insignificant things are big deals to God! So, no matter what our hands find to do, we must do it with all our might (Ecc 9:10), and by giving our best; not a halfway decent job. Because we are giving the Lord our “labour of love” (1 Thes 1:3), and He always appreciates everything we do for His glory! God bless you!
