Jesus paid the price for sin “through His blood” (Col 1:14), “that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people.” As God’s children, we are to live clean lives by “perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Cor 7:1). We are to be vessels unto honour, “sanctified, and meet for the master's use” (2 Tim 2:21). That means we are to stay away from any defiling influences in our lives by drawing closer to the Lord (Jms 4:8), and by walking in the spirit (Gal 5:16).
We must humbly get down on our knees in prayers (1 Pet 5:5), and be sanctified by God’s word (Jn 17:17)! Because there are so many things in the world today (1 Jn 2:16), that could defile our minds, such as worldly music, the Internet, and covetousness! As “a peculiar people,” we cannot be friends of the world (Jms 4:4). The people around us must see that we are different “in Christ” (2 Cor 5:17), by “making a difference” (Jude 1:22). Some professing believers make excuses to look and act like the world so they can reach the world (1 Pet 1:14). In reality, the world has already reached them (Eph 4:14), but they would not admit it. They even get mad at the preacher for preaching the truth (1 Cor 3:1)! Jesus was a peculiar person when He walked the earth.
He bought us “with a price” (1 Cor 6:20). Therefore, He wants to change us in His likeness (1 Cor 2:16), by being “zealous of good works.” There is so much apathy in most churches today (Zeph 1:12). Most folks are no longer interested in attending church (Heb 10:25). They have no desire to go soulwinning (Prov 11:30), or do any work “for Christ’s sake” (Rom 15:30). But Jesus said, “without Me ye can do nothing” (Jn 15:5). May we have that zeal so we can be productive for Him! God bless you!
