Paul is a great example of a changed life in Christ (2 Cor 5:17); “who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious” (v. 13). But he obtained God’s grace (v. 14), and mercy (v. 16). The Lord entrusted him with “the glorious gospel” and placed him into the ministry (v. 12). We should never hold back on what God has planned for our lives (Jer 29:11). Most professing believers would leave their homes to pursue their education or a career. But they would not leave to obey God’s call (Isa 6:8). The “harvest truly is great” (Lk 10:2), but we have a great shortage of labourers! Unless God calls them to full time ministry, most Christians who work a secular job should be obedient to ensure that they are giving their tithes (Mal 3:10), and contributing towards their local church’s support for like-minded missionaries.
Some men are called to the mission field, but their wife refuses to go. The Bible says that a wife ought to be in submission (Eph 5:22), to the loving leadership of her husband (Eph 5:28). Sadly, we are seeing more men in our society who are afraid to lead their wife, and wives who are afraid of men who will not lead. Thereby leaving the family to be led by the wife instead of the husband! Remember, wives should “be in subjection to your own husbands” (1 Pet 3:1).
If your husband is unsaved, then pray that God would save him through your own testimony when he beholds “your chaste conversation coupled with fear” (1 Pet 3:2). Saved husbands need to do everything they can to ensure that their wife and children are given every opportunity to become the people that God saved them to be! We cannot fully trust the Lord if we are still trusting in riches (1 Tim 6:17). We cannot follow Him if we are not walking “by faith” (2 Cor 5:7). We need to simply trust and obey Him! God bless you!
