Every true believer will not be able to continue living in sin, “because he is born of God” (1 Jn 3:9). There is no such thing as sinless perfection because Christians can still commit sin (1 Jn 1:8). However, after trusting Jesus as our Lord and Savior by faith (Rom 10:9), our bodies became “the temple of the Holy Ghost” (1 Cor 6:19). He convicts us of sin in our lives (Jn 16:8), and makes us aware of what is wrong (Gal 5:16). He then provides us with the necessary escape routes so we can avoid it (1 Cor 10:13). If somehow, we still fall into temptation and commit sin, we would immediately acknowledge our transgressions (Ps 51:3), and humbly confess them (1 Jn 1:9). Because sin will always break our fellowship with the Lord, and we will not have any peace until we make it right with Him!
We also understand that we will be brought under God’s chastisement as His children (Heb 12:6). He will always deal with us in love (Rev 3:19). But if we refuse to repent, then He will deal in judgment (1 Cor 5:5). Genuine conversion enables us to humbly “receive with meekness” (Jms 1:21), the word of God. The Holy Spirit dwelling in us (Rom 8:11), gives us the ability “to discern both good and evil” (Heb 5:14)!
Therefore, whenever we study (2 Tim 2:15), and hear the sound preaching of God’s word (2 Tim 4:2), we would receive them as truths coming from God to effectively work in us (1 Thes 2:13). It’s no longer something that would cause us to doubt, debate, or get offended (Ps 119:165). We have the characteristic of the sheep responding to their Shepherd’s voice and following Him (Jn 10:27). Our spiritual growth (2 Pet 3:18), can be seen by our willful desire to hear God’s word; understand it, and obey what He says (1 Cor 2:15)! God bless you!
