Getting Ready For His Coming
Song of Solomon 6:10 says, “Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?”

The bridegroom’s wife is called the “fairest among women” (v. 1). She is pictured as the bride of Christ, “the church” (Eph 5:25), who will be presented to Him in the future event called “the marriage supper of the Lamb” (Rev 19:9). The phrase “she that looketh forth as the morning,” signifies the saints’ anticipation of the second coming of Jesus, “the bright and morning star” (Rev 22:16). Today, we are like living in the night and looking forward to the morning. This is why Jesus will come “as a thief in the night” (1 Thes 5:2).
It would be a blessed time for all “that love His appearing” (2 Tim 4:8); when He shall reign in righteousness and He “shall rule in judgment” (Isa 32:1)! When the bridegroom calls his beloved to “come away” (Song 2:10), it pictures the rapture, when the saints of God shall be caught up together “to meet the Lord in the air” (1 Thes 4:17). We must always be ready and watching (Rev 16:15), because we “know not what hour our Lord doth come” (Mt 24:4) – it could be “at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning” (Mk 13:35).
While waiting, we should be “fair as the moon,” by being sanctified and cleansed “with the washing of water by the word” (Eph 5:26), so we can come forth as “a glorious church” (Eph 5:27), not having spot, or wrinkle, and without blemish. Sadly, many churches today are becoming more worldly than spiritual (Rom 12:2). But we are commanded to be “the light of the world” (Mt 5:14), “clear as the sun” and reflecting the full brightness of Jesus, “the Sun of righteousness“ (Mal 4:2). We must also be “terrible as an army with banners” by fighting “the good fight of faith” (1 Tim 6:12). As “good soldiers of Jesus Christ” (2 Tim 2:3), let’s get ready for that great day of His coming! God bless you!
