Praise Ye The Lord
Psalms 113:1 says, “Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.”

The Psalmist calls all of God’s children to lift up their hearts and voices in praise because of Who God is! We are to bless His name “from this time forth and for evermore” (v. 2). Our praise will never end even when we get to Heaven (Rev 5:13)! Just as we are commanded to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thes 5:17), every waking moment of our lives should be spent in praising the Lord (v. 3). We praise Him because He “is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens” (v. 4). When all the nations are gone, Heaven will still be filled with our praises (Rev 4:11)!
There is none like the Lord (v. 5) – He is beyond anyone’s comprehension. All the false gods and exalted people in the world will fade away (Ecc 9:5), but God shall continue to inhabit eternity (Isa 57:15). It’s so amazing to think how God would even look down on the things on earth (v. 6). Yet, our Lord Jesus was made in the likeness of men; He “humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” (Php 2:8), to save us from the penalty of sin (Rom 8:1). He came (Lk 19:10), because of His great love for us (Jn 3:16). He conquered death so that all who would believe in Him are made to “sit together in heavenly places” (Eph 2:6)!
Lifting the needy “out of the dunghill” (v. 7), is a picture of God delivering His children from the deepest depressions in the junkyard of humanity. The moment we repented towards Jesus by faith (Acts 20:21), our lives have been salvaged (2 Cor 5:17). We are transformed to become “His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works” (Eph 2:10). Indeed, God deserves our praise and thanksgiving (Ps 69:30). May we always purpose in our hearts to praise Him with our lips, our lives, and our labour of love. He alone is worthy of our praise! God bless you!
