God did cast His bread upon humanity, when He “gave His only begotten Son” (Jn 3:16), Jesus Christ; Who died on the cross (Heb 12:2), and Whom He “raised up the third day” (Acts 10:40), to “redeem us from all iniquity” (Titus 2:14)! Jesus said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven” (Jn 6:51). Although He came in the flesh (Jn 1:14), He is not a literal and physical bread that would perish (Jn 6:27), and satisfy our hunger temporarily. When you trust Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior by faith (Gal 3:26), then you will neither hunger nor thirst again spiritually (Jn 6:35). We all need food and water for our daily sustenance, because we get physically hungry and thirsty every day (Mt 6:11).
Even our Lord Jesus (Mt 4:2), and Paul (2 Cor 11:27), got hungry! Sinful man’s deepest needs (Ps 63:1), can be satisfied by receiving the spiritual food that comes from God’s word – it is both a “sincere milk” and “meat” (1 Cor 3:2). We can all be nourished spiritually by studying (2 Tim 3:16), and receiving “the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe” (1 Thes 2:13). As God’s children, He has “given to us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Cor 5:18), as “ambassadors for Christ” (2 Cor 5:20).
Therefore, we must continue His mission of reconciling sinners to God by casting this bread through our soulwinning efforts (Prov 11:30). This is further illustrated by the seed that is sown “in the morning… and in the evening” (v. 6). The “seed is the word of God” (Lk 8:11). We are commissioned (Mk 16:15), to sow this seed even to “the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8), through the worldwide missions that we support. We are always praying that God’s word would fall upon good ground listeners (Rom 10:17), so that they would one day bring “forth fruit” (Mt 13:8). That is, “the fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5:22)! God bless you!
