God wants all His children to be “throughly furnished” or fully equipped unto all the “good works” that He has called us “according to His own purpose and grace” (2 Tim 1:9). This is made possible through His inspired word (v. 16a). God promised to preserve His words (Ps 12:7), and we believe that He did it through the King James Bible – the most accurate transmission of God’s word in the English language! Sadly, many modern Bible translations today have either corrupted or contradicted God’s word just to suit their own “private interpretation” (2 Pet 1:20).
But before anyone can be furnished, that person must be saved! Since “the word of God is quick, and powerful” (Heb 4:12), it can convict the hearts of lost people (Rom 10:17), so they can put their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior (Eph 2:8). Upon salvation, the Holy Spirit can then guide them “into all truth” (Jn 16:13). The Bible is meant to change us (2 Cor 5:17), not for us to change the Bible to suit our sins! We need to ask God for wisdom (Jms 1:5), as well as “understanding” (Prov 4:7), which comes from the “inspiration of the Almighty” (Job 32:8).
But we must approach Him with a humble heart (Ps 69:32), and not with a “doubtful mind” (Lk 12:29). When the Holy Spirit reveals the truth to us, we can have a good understanding of His will (Eph 5:17), in our lives! Then we can speak the things “which become sound doctrine” (Titus 2:1), that equips us unto good works. Afterward, we are able to receive any reproof, correction, and “instruction in righteousness” (v. 16b). Since “reproofs of instruction are the way of life” (Prov 6:23), the Bible teaches us how to “discern both good and evil” (Heb 5:14). We can know when something is wrong because of what the scriptures say is right. We must be willing to receive corrections by changing the wrong things to right! God bless you!
