Jude reminds the believers (v. 1), about how the Lord saved the children of Israel “out of the land of Egypt,” and “destroyed them that believed not.” He also reminded them about the judgment of fallen angels (v. 6), and the destruction of “Sodom and Gomorrha” (v. 7). He wants to prevent them from following certain deceivers and ungodly men who have “crept in unawares” (v. 4). Such false teachers describe the “last days” (2 Tim 3:1). They are unregenerate sinners by nature because they have never been truly changed. Their own corruption would ultimately result in their destruction (2 Pet 2:12). But the born-again children of God (Jn 3:3), no longer have their old nature as was before getting saved (2 Cor 5:17).
They have experienced the supernatural “washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost” (Titus 3:5). Jude’s warnings serve to remind all of us that God’s judgments were ordained to give us His divine examples; “He shall judge the world with righteousness” (Ps 96:13). God is holy (Josh 24:19), and He is the same as ever (Mal 3:6). His hatred of sin is the same (Ps 11:5), and His judgment of the wicked is still the same (Rev 20:12)! Sadly, many today are “giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils” (1 Tim 4:1).
As much as we want our society to improve, it will eventually continue to slide into moral decay (2 Tim 3:13). Bible-believing Christians that stand true to “the faithful word” (Titus 1:9), and “endure sound doctrine” (2 Tim 4:3), may potentially slow down the advancement of evil. However, “the wicked shall do wickedly” (Dan 12:10), as conditions around us will continue to deteriorate until “the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thes 3:13). In the meantime, let’s remain faithful to keep ourselves in the center of God’s plan by following His will according to His way! God bless you!
